Mathematical Foundations of Imaging, Tomography and Wavefield Inversion

Written for graduate students and researchers, this book presents a comprehensive introduction to the foundations of imaging and wavefield inversion. The necessary theory is gradually developed throughout the book, progressing from simple wave equation–based models to vector wave models. Topics include radiation and initial value problems for the wave equation, angular spectrum and multipole expansions, and time reversal imaging for systems of discrete scatterers.

MATLAB is used to solve numerous examples in the book. In addition, a supplemental set of MATLAB code files is available for download.
